Our Learning:

Literacy:

  • We continued to build our routines and expectations during Daily 5. This week we talked about "working on writing". We talked about how it is important to work quietly, write the whole time, have quiet transitions, get started right away, stay in one spot and build stamina.
  • We talked about brain pockets. Brain pockets help us decide what to write when we are unsure. Our brain pockets are memories, facts, and imagination.
  • We talked about Orange Shirt Day and had learners write what "every child matters" means. They designed an orange shirt to reflect their thinking.
Math:
  • We practiced representing numbers in different ways this week. We matched a number to its written form, numeral, and number of dots.
  • We are going to be working towards showing numbers in a variety of ways.

Inquiry:
  • Throughout the week, we explored Indigenous stories and videos to learn about Indigenous culture and residential schools. To support this learning, we watched a variety of videos, and we read "The Orange Shirt Story" and "Every Child Matters" by Phyllis Webstad.
Thank you for reading!
