Our Learning:
Literacy:
- We continued with our literacy routines, such as printing practice, word work, daily 5, and writers' workshop.
- We wrote poems about our learning during Coulee school and will share that with you, either today (if you are able to come to the celebration of learning) or when it comes home on Monday.
- We also listened to read alouds and strengthened our ability to write and visually show the beginning, middle and ending of a story.
Math:
- In grade two, we have been learning about using standard and non - standard units to measure. Ask your child why we would use standard units.
- We then built our understanding of centimetres and used this knowledge to compare and measure objects around the school.
- In grade 1, we created a measurement garden using our background knowledge to use non-standard units to measure our garden and items in the classroom.
- We also introduced the concepts of capacity and area and listed and tested objects around the classroom to see how many items can these objects in our classroom hold.
Inquiry:
- A lot of inquiry this week was preparing for our Coulee school celebration today so stay tuned....
